We also recommend a fecal examination to check for other parasites, such as Giardia or coccidia. Please bring a fresh stool sample to your appointment for testing.

Proper nutrition is essential for your kitten’s growth and development. Kitten food should be specifically formulated for kittens and labeled for growth. We recommend feeding a high-quality kitten food until your kitten is approximately one year old.

Important Note: While grain-free diets have become popular, recent studies have linked some grain-free diets to heart problems in cats and dogs. We recommend discussing dietary options with us to ensure your kitten is on a complete and balanced diet.

Kittens are usually easy to litter box train. Here are some helpful tips:

• Provide multiple litter boxes, ideally one per cat plus one extra.
• Place litter boxes in quiet, accessible locations.
• Use a litter that your kitten prefers (most kittens prefer unscented, clumping litter).
• Keep the litter boxes clean.
• If your kitten has accidents outside the box, clean them thoroughly to eliminate odors.

Scratching is a natural behavior for cats. To protect your furniture, provide your kitten with scratching posts made of sisal, cardboard, or carpet. You can also try catnip sprays or toys to attract your kitten to the scratching post.
